    Six week have passed and we are reaching an end to my sophomore years. It been a great experience and NEW School made that experience better. What I learned in the social media unit is that social media is not just a easy to access tool to communicate our friend and family but as well to conduct experiment, contact professor/ scientist, and even spreading campaign. We learned how our blood type work and interact with other as well creating a website to share our ideas and so much more. So the skill I refined the most this year was creating a lab report, public speaking and creating a website.



    Before all else, let talked about lab report. In the beginning of the school years, I wasn't very good creating a lab report, half the time they're not finished because I didn't know what to do. So overtime I started to get better and with help of my classmates and teachers, my proudest one is the blood type lab report (In science notebook tab). It talked about how their 8 blood type, 4 positive and 4 negative and how each one interact. So the experiment was what kind of blood type I had and how it react with other blood

With the help of Mrs. Neto, it help me to organized my data, how to introduce it my research and what I learned out of it, like an essay but with more data.  Thanks to skilled, it helped me conduct my own experiment in how our classmate interact in NEW School compared to other classes. It was successful and I had a decent idea how to organise it and this skilled will helped me in the future when I move into Axis Stem.

    In NEW School, every time we finish a our project, we must create a speech about it. In the past I don't have fear in public speaking however my biggest challenge is speaking proper english because is my second language. Since we did it so often, I improve significantly in my public speaking.

One such example was me participating in the board meeting explained how NEW school works and how it doing, it was very successful and I'm very happy about it, even our principal congratulated me for participating. What I find important about this skilled is that it help you build confident in your ideas and people are willing to hear about if it well made.
    To wrap thing up, let's discussed about website. I don't know about you but I don't go to my computer to create a website, halftime is either homework or video game but in this unit, we had to create one talking about our project or idea. For me, it was challenging because at home, my computer had some problem running the website and  since this was a group project, we all had different ideas or preference of website but at the end it was a fun project. It help me  to create and engaging website as well to collaborate with other classmate. Who knows, maybe all create a popular website in the future.

    So overall, this was a fun year and the social media unit was rather interesting, even do their was some challenges, it overcomed with help of classmate and teacher and practice. This skilled might be useful for a better future.

Dilogue Interpretation

In NEW School, our assignment was to voice record a conversation with a partner of a specific topic and turn it into a story.


It started with the death of the queen of the Sandwing dragons. Her three daughters, all heirs to the throne, all couldn’t decide who would be best. Would it be Burn, the oldest daughter with a love of battle and death, Blister, the intelligent one with a deep greed of treasure and power, or Blaze the beautiful one with not a nut for a brain in that head of hers. The kingdom divided, some on Burn’s side, some on Blazes, some on Blisters. This argument didn’t stay in the sand kingdom however, Burn became allies the Skywings of the mountains and the Mudwings of the swamps. Blister became allies with the Seawings of the deep. Blister became allies with the Icewings of the glaciers. The war between the three sisters went on for ten years with no end. Lands were scorched, cities were destroyed, treasures were lost, dragons died.


“So are you operating at 100%”, asked Scorpio the sandwing. His scales were a dark sandy color. He was a skinny dragon, big, but skinny being a sandwing and eating nothing much than lizards and snakes. He was employed in Blaze’s army, having to resort to staying with their allies the icewings and having to stay in a cold region, he didn’t look as bright and energetic as most dragons of the desert.


“Don’t know what you just said”, the skywing Topaz yawned, laying back on a warm rock. She was a Reddish orange color and looked like any other grumpy skywing, but Scorpio knew more than that, she was lazy, just like him. Short stubby legs and spiraling horns, a bright band of platinum laid with diamonds adorning her right talon.


In front of them a battle raged between Blazes army and Burn’s army. Red, brown, orange, white, and yellow dragons flew through the skies, attacking each other with fire and ice breath, poisonous barbed tails and big bulky bodies. Bodies fell to the ground of dead dragons, some still alive, but most likely dead. The field, once wide, golden and perfect was scorched with fire, frozen with ice, and squishy with the blood of many dragons. Guts and corpses littered the place, a sight that was disgusting, but not unusual in the world. Eleven years of war and many years to come, dragons were used to this, there wasn’t a single of age dragon who wasn’t scarred with burns, scratches, missing limbs, or damage. However there was also those dragons, the dragons who didn’t bother. These were Topaz and Scorpio who didn’t care what happened to the world since it would at least go on another ten years


“Are you operating in 100%? Are you going all out everyday or today you’re like Eh 50%”, Scorpio asked. Topaz flicked her ear lazily and looked up as if to think hard.


“Nope I’m going in 5% because well, I don’t want to do anything, look at this mess, do you think I want to be part of it? Nope, I want to have both my wings intact  so sitting here is what I do. How about you”?


“Well it depends, my percentage go up and down, such as if I do a physical activity that is actually important, I’ll go 90% because it requires more energy, and sometimes when I’m sitting and doing some simple and tedious work such as building and drawing I’ll go 50%, but half the time I’m 25% watching my siblings fight, but camel feet I always use 10% of my energy to tolerate my sister”. A sickening scream erupted from a mudwing nearby and it was so close blood splatter almost landed on the two. Scorpio looked down at the black stained rocks nearby and Topaz scratched the underside of one of her back feet.


“Who doesn’t. Siblings take energy. Mine hates me for bing so lazy. My brother died in battle last week while I was talking with Pufferfish and she blames me for that. I still love her and I hope she doesn’t end up dead like he did”, Topaz groaned, her neck moving back and her scales wrinkling up to accommodate the fact that her head was bending back. She looked more like a mudwing now, the movement making her neck look thicker like the bulky brown dragons that lived in the mud.


“I still feel like her annoying level is a hundred percent”, Scorpio said. A bunch of red flashed by which ended up being three skywings working together an icewing attacked one and the others turned right around and slaughtered the icewing, moving on  and flying through the crowd of dragons


“My sister is still annoying, but once upon a time I took my sister to a walk and there was a path I wanted to take, but she want to take another trail so I told her there was Nightwings down that trail. I left her standing there looking at the trail thinking there was Nightwings down that trail. My mother got really angry leaving her their scared thinking about Nightwings and I notice she wasn’t following me so I got in be trouble.”


“That’s what happens when you scare someone, it’s funny until you get punished for scaring them over the cliff”.


“Hey I think your side is retreating”, Topaz pointed a lazy claw to the white and pale dragons flying in the other direction, a significant number missing from the earlier mass of dragons


“Looks like they are. Welp, see you next attack”, Scorpio said and pulled himself up onto all fours.


“Hey bring Frosty next time, he still owes me a duck, oh and see if he can bring over a narwhale, Pufferfish is also coming we can have a picnic”, Topaz called out

“Sure why not. See ya”.

Unit 3 Environmental Reflection  

          Over the past couple of week, I have discovered so much this semester. I started to understand that stories have have a deeper meaning or more that meet the eye as well have the food web interconnect all living and non-living creature and even a deeper understanding how human activity impacted environment. So what I understand out of this unit is that how dangerous our daily activity is to the environment and how sensitive is our ecosystem .

          One of the assignment I focus the most in NEW School was the environmental unit project. The project was about tackling an environmental problem and finding a solution to it. So my group decided to study about plastic and how much it effect the environment. When I started to research about plastic, I never knew how much it affected the environment and other contributing factor.
For example, according to Calrecycel, California use 13 to 20 billion plastic bag each years, doesn't biodegrade or take over 1000 years just to get smaller. (Link to full essay) But what was the most mind boggling was that we cause this problem, not a very specific group of people but everyone because how usefully and universal plastic is to the human race such as plastic bag, toys, water bottle, the list go on but for the exchange of extreme environmental damage. So our group solution was to create a system were we recycle plastic in a rapid rate using a unique fungi that can decompose plastic, sadly however we didn't receive any sample because their was some delivery issue so speculating never hurt. If it work, it could help out decompose the landfill a lot quicker and it will lower the amount of methane gas in the landfill as well if all the plastic (plastic mixed with waste and sun light create a huge amount of methane gas) This was fun and intresting solution because it was abnormal and was never been attempted before so it was fun experimenting an idea that could fail or succed.

          Due to global warning being an increasing problem, we started to study about the food web and the ecosystem we lived in the past compare to today. Million of year ago, Human started explore and settle in planet earth, however according to the Sixth extinction and the Iconvenient truth, all changed when the industrial revolution began. In the past, global warning was never a problem because in never existed when human were alive but now is one of the biggest problem to date and it only to get worst. The main cause of global warning is rising amount of Co2. Co2 is an element that raise the global temperature as well turning into acid once reach to salt water (lowering the ph of the entire ocean!)  This was not an issue 400 year ago because most of our tool and need didn't produce large scale amount of Co2 but all change when the steam powered engine is invented. The invention was powered by coal and it release a huge amount of Co2, it wasn't a big deal in till later factory started to have that feature which eventually spread all around. Now for the next 200 years, human life had release been releasing trillion of ton of Co2 to the atmosphere and now it reach to world record of Co2 in the atmosphere in mankind history. This level of Co2 have killed of many specie around the world, is melting of the glacier which contain our fresh water and is protecting us from sun rays and more importantly is acidifying the ocean, destroying the ecosystem on the ocean all because we created a steam engine to take out water in the mine.

          So the environmental unit was an interesting topic because their so much to learn then it meet the eye. For each item we eat or use, their a story to it and what it does to the environment. Sadly most of our daily action cause more harm then good such as our factory or are multi purpose plastic. Who knows, we could find a new way to combat the the biggest on earth, we have the answer, we just need to ask the right question.

Over the past couple of months, I was having some major difficulty in reviewing college level text book such as the Omnivore Dilemma and the Sixth Extinction. So I was assign to do a deep learning dive and found an interesting and helpful video.

In the video, it explained helpful tips on reviewing or taking notes on difficult college text book in a humorous way.  Thomas Franks is the author and the creator of the website, College Info Geek where he dedicate his time giving tips in trick for succeeding in school and colleges. He also has a youtube channel to make your academic life easier .
